We love Sitar and so do our kids. Staff is so friendly. Same good food as years before with a friendlier environment than 10+yrs ago. Go see them soon!

36 years old. Slightly over weight. In love with food. Will try anything once. When you hear those traits about someone, you assume they've tried dang near every type of food there is. Well you would be wrong assuming because this was the first time putting Indian food in my mouth. I couldn't tell you what I got or even pronounce it when I was there, but 6 out of the 8 or so options were delicious. . Even if you're picky, they had rice and some very good seasoned chicken legs that tasted like that one time you went a little crazy with the spices you don't ever use in the back of your spice cabinet and ended up making some delicious chicken that you never knew you could make. If I'm in the area and have a hankering for Indian, I'd go here again. The restaurant looked clean, the decorations made it look authentic and the staff was cool as well. If you haven't tried Indian, TRY THIS PLACE.

Amazing food and great service. We were in town for the weekend and we were looking at Yelp for good restaurants. We love Indian so decided to try Sitar. The food was delicious and everyone working there was so nice and helpful. We ended up leaving a cell phone there, and left when the restaurant was closing. But we called and let them know we were coming back and they had our phone waiting for us when we got there. I highly recommend this place.

Another good meal with good service. This is our meal stop between Cleveland and North Carolina. When asked I suggest getting mild spice or no spice. The mild spice contained different spices I was not familiar with. The restaurant looks a bit worn, but there are always many patrons dining. Prices are good.

I goto Sitar of Indian during their lunch buffet hours and every-time the food is fresh and delicious. The service can be a little slow sometimes but they are usually very busy when this happens. Definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in Charleston!

Sitar is 1 of only 2 Indian restaurants in the Charleston area. It's been around for decades and even though it's appearance is dated and is need of some basic upgrades, they must be doing something right. We stopped in while passing through Charleston. It's conveniently located in downtown Charleston just an easy exit from the interstate. There's a parking lot across the street; parking is included as long as you spend at least $10. Seems like a family owned restaurant. There's always just 1 very enthusiastic young guy working the dining area whenever I've gone. He's very enthusiastic, manages to greet and seat everyone as well as take the orders and bring out food and drinks. The menu is extensive and is exclusively North Indian cuisine. Presentation is authentic with the food served is small metal style pots. Glasses and plates are clean and do not look worn out. Unfortunately, the flavors and preparation of the food was not the best I've had. In fact, it looked and tasted as if it were prepared by someone that was assisting in cooking and not someone who is the actual chef. Last time I went the food was very classic in appearance and taste. That was a good experience. I forgot to take pictures this time around, but in addition to to Sitar Veggie appetizer platter we also got the Malai Kofta and a Paneer entree as well as the Bread Basket. The sitar veggie appetizer and Bread basket were fantastic. The appetizer platter was enough for 2 people to share and gave a nice assortment of apps. The bread basket was satisfying all around with different types of breads, mostly naan types. Even though the place is in need of some cosmetic upgrades and the food was lackluster I still gave it 4 stars because the guy that works the restaurant is fantastic at making you feel welcome. I also felt that the food was better the 1st time so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

It was Labor Day and I was on the road and wondering whether it was worth trying my second-choice Indian restaurant in Charleston WV or whether I should just keep driving. Turns out you can get quality Indian food all over. Service was pretty slow, as the one guy working the front had to deal with what appeared to be everyone in Charleston either eating in or taking out as nothing else was open for the holiday. I imagine a usual day is a bit different. They have a North Indian menu and they offer a lot of lower priced, smaller appetizers and things. My lentil soup tasted strongly of roasted cumin, and my two little aloo tikki were freshly crisp and dusted with some very nice spice powder. The beans that I asked for spicy were sinus-clearingly good. I ended up with a plain naan instead of what I asked for, but it was fine and I brushed off the error given the holiday rush. Overall, it was quality vegetarian food in downtown Charleston, in a place run by an immigrant family who seem to be pretty happy with what they're doing. I was pretty happy with it too.
